ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, wrote an article about superstar RB Adrian Peterson’s success when he has fullback Jerome Felton lead blocking for him last season. The numbers are very interesting, and show that the Minnesota Vikings running game benefited from having fullback Jerome Felton on the field.

A breakdown of the Minnesota running back’s runs by formation:

Formation Attempts Yards Yards Per Carry Touchdowns 20+
Two-back 137 985 7.2 3 13
All others 76 251 3.3 4 1

Minnesota’s running game was substantially better when running out of a two back set, as there yards per carry more than doubled along with having a 13-1 ratio of explosive plays of 20+ yard runs.
